Bias bindings are used in home decor sewing. Bias binding can be used on place mats, on awnings, or as a decorative edge on a window treatment. To wrap bias binding around a corner, you will need to create a mitered corner. These step by step instructions show how to create a mitered corner when adding and sewing bias binding to a fabric edge.
Pro Tip (not shown in video): Instead of folding over each end of the bias binding, don’t stitch 1″ on each end. When the bias binding is sewn around the home decor item, and the ends meet, then you will tuck one end inside the other, creating a neatly finished joint. Finish off by sewing those joined ends together, before proceeding to the next step of the project.
